Normally, if one were to look up at the night sky, the only things one would find soaring through it were shooting stars, moon beams, and the occasional bird.
But what sailed beneath this starry sky was unlike anything the moon had ever seen.
Through the ocean of clouds there sailed a mighty ship.
Its grand masts stood tall over the red and brown bulk beneath it.
Unfortunately, not a pair of eyes were lucky enough to witness this marvelous sight, for all were hidden beneath a pair of eyelids this night.
The ship gracefully glided among the London buildings, passing by like a midnight breeze.
Though all was calm outside the ship, the inside was far from it.
The crew frantically ran about the decks, trying to keep a steady sail - for it is extremely difficult to steer a ship out of water.
Meanwhile, the captain resided within the walls of the ship, slouched in the confides of his red velvet arm chair.
His blank gaze was fixated on nothingness as his cheek rested against the cold steel that was his right hand.
His mind was flustered with constant thoughts of his own life.
His eyes -which were the lightest of blues- continually flashed with memories of all the wasted years, the useless attempts. Everything he had ever done had been in vain.
But today was a new dawn. A dawn that would declare the beginning of one man's life, and the end of one boy's.
The Wendy girl would be coming home soon, but little did she know who would be waiting for her in the nursery.
The captain curled his black moustache with the tip of his hook at the thought of his long awaited success.
Suddenly, the ship came to a stop, as did the rattling of his mind, and the door to his chamber opened.
Out emerged the head of a rather peculiar man. It was the first mate- short and stout with nose and cheeks as red as tomatoes. "Cap'n..." he said, with a small hesitance in his tone. "We've arrived."
The captain stood up. His uneasy eyes shifted about the room and his lip gave the slightest of twitches. He reached for his broad rimmed had that sat perched at the top of his arm chair and placed is over his thick black locks.
"This time will be different, Smee, for I have a plan."
He marched out of the room with an aura of determination surrounding him.
"A plan with absolutely no flaws. A plan that is-"
He gave a smirk and chuckled to himself.
"-child proof."
The ship was in the middle of a common London neighborhood. The Fog rose above the streets, and the silver dew of the trees glistened beneath rays of the moon.
The crewman quietly placed the dreadful plank from the edge of the boat to the open window of one of the houses.
"Let's go, Cap'n!" began the plump first mate, following right behind his captain.
But the captain raised his hook into the air without turning around.
"No Smee....I'll handle this m'self. I want to make sure everything goes in
order," said he as he crossed the plank, toward the window.
With every step he took, he could think of 5 different ways to sink his hook into the wretched brat that haunted his dreams.
Pushing the curtains away, Captain Hook peered into the room.
The three beds that lined the walls were neat and tidy. All of the shelves were filled with joyful things, such as teddy bears and wooden swords.
He gave a small sneer at the site as he entered the room.
But just then, a marvelous spectacle caught his eye.
Beside the window he emerged from, there slept a woman in a chair.
A mother desperately waiting for the return of her long gone children.
He fair skin seemed to glow in the candle lit room. Her lush brown hair was pulled back, better revealing her lovely woman's chin.
Captain Hook's eyes softened as he looked upon the beautiful sight.
Her gentle eyes were closed, with her delicate eye lashes pressed against her cheeks.
But what managed to take his breath away were her lips. Those pale rose
petal lips.
"Could it be?" he asked himself as he leaned in, examining the lips further.
He lifted up his left hand, waving his fingers over her lips, being careful not to awaken her.
It was there -very well hidden- but ever so visible to the captain.
"A kiss." he said gently as he gazed at her lips.
Never before had the captain seen a more wonderous thing.
Captain Hook leaned in even further, just to get a better look at the angel that slept before him.
But all he could do was wave his hands beside her, for it would be a sin to touch and disturb something and sacred as she.
A wave of emotion engulfed the captain, and he slowly backed away.
His mind was completely clear, and not a thought danced through his head other than the vision of the sleeping maiden.
All he could do now was envy what could never be his.
Climbing back up through the window sill, he turned once more to steal just another glimpse of that hidden kiss.
The crewman gazed at him oddly as he came strolling back up to the ship.
They noticed the odd glimmer in his eye, and the strange new expression that was swept across his face.
"Eh...Cap'n?" the first mate questioned as he followed behind."What about
the plan? To ambush Wendy?"
Captain Hook waved his hand aside and went to his quarters.
"Another time, Smee. Another time..." he closed the door behind him.
And so the plank was lifted and the ship flew off into the night, sailing back home toward a distant star to the right.
While watching the recent Peter Pan movie with me mom, I was struck with this lovely thought.
I don't know what you would call this little work.
I wouldn't quite say it's fan fiction, even though it's under that category.
Some odd prose of some sort.

I really don't know.
But the thought just fascinated me.

I adore disney, but alot of there characters are very static.
I love seeing Captian Hook as more than Captain hook.

When I was a kid, I always wonderred how adults got to never land and how they were all coincidentally pirates.
I also thought it was weird that his last name was hook, and that it just so happened that he would end up needing a hook.

But anywho, I like to see the different dimensions of Captain hook.
The rather lonely soul.

Anywho...this is it.
I plan on drawing a picture to match it..
It's times like these that I wish I could paint.

But I'm only able to hold a pencil the wrong way, and draw.

I tried to get this writing critiqued, but nobody had anything to say!
I KNOW it needs polishing SOMEWHERE.

So feel free to make any suggestions. :D

Also, I found a picture of hook on google images, edited a few details, and made it great! Here is the mini version.
I'll put up the larger later.

Captain Hook, Mrs. Darlin, Wendy and Mr. Smee (C) JM Barrie

EDIT
j\Just fixed a couple grammar mistakes.
There are probably more that I'm missing.
"A wave of emotion engulfed the captain like a tidal wave..."

A wave engulfed him like a wave? XD oh silly me
